Who rules the Internet? Cats do.

YOTC2Have you ever noticed that cat pictures on the Internet tend to outnumber dog pictures by a significant amount?  In fact, for every dog picture you find on most social media platforms you will find at least 10 cat pictures.  This is a hugely significant data spike and it has me wondering just how the humble cat came to take over the Internet.

Candace vs. the Tornado

I have always had a fascination with weather since as young as I can remember.  I think I got a lot of that from my grandfather.  Pops would be constantly listening to the weather and checking his trusty barometer which he hung proudly in his living room.  He was the type of person who would drive to the ocean if a hurricane were coming to see the big waves.   Mind you, in Nova Scotia driving to the ocean to see a hurricane swell is a much safer activity than doing the same thing in South Carolina. Viral Grumpiness: Grumping with Grumpy Cat

GC-Gravatar-copyUnless you have lived under a rock for the last year you have no doubt heard of the viral Internet sensation known simply as Grumpy Cat.  This cat is literally everywhere and may be the most famous feline on the planet right now.  Grumpy Cat has also become the perfect example of what can happen in a viral perfect storm.  Quite literally, a humble cat named Tardar Sauce born with a permanent frown on her expression exploded into a sensation when someone got the brilliant idea to add sarcastic  sayings to her picture.  Really, that was all it took?
